Seiji Igusa
Acoustic Guitarist / Composer / Arranger
Born into a pastor's family, Seiji Igusa grew up immersed in hymns and gospel music. He began playing drums at age 11 and started learning guitar at 15.
In 2009, Igusa participated in FINGER PICKING DAY 2009, a prestigious gateway for acoustic guitarists, where he won both the "Grand Prize" and the "Best Original Arrangement Award." The same year, he served as the opening act for Tommy Emmanuel's Japan tour.
In 2010, he represented Japan at the globally renowned guitar contest, the 39th Walnut Valley Festival in Kansas, USA, and was ranked among the Top 5 finalists.
From 2015, Igusa expanded his musical activities across Asia, performing in countries such as South Korea and China. In 2019, he completed a highly successful tour across 15 cities in China.
In 2021, he was featured on the cover of Acoustic Guitar Book 53, cementing his status as one of the leading figures in the acoustic guitar world.
In 2022, Igusa was awarded the Grand Prize in the Guitarist Category at the Musical Instrument Store Awards, an accolade determined by music store staff nationwide for the "most recommended players to promote to the world."
That same year, he performed as the guitarist for the nationwide 15-show tour of Disney on Classic 2022, collaborating with a full orchestra.
Igusa has also garnered widespread acclaim for his guitar arrangements of tracks from the Final Fantasy series and other titles, which are featured on the official YouTube channel of Square Enix Music.
To date, Igusa has released ten albums. His intricate fingerpicking technique and compositions have gained international recognition, with his YouTube channel amassing over 1 million subscribers and his Instagram following exceeding 500,000.
Additionally, he was ranked 31st in Acoustic Guitar Magazine's "100 Best Solo Guitarists Chosen by Players & Experts", and 4th in the readers' poll.
